Two Treatise On Gnostic Thought

Anunnaki’s debut album originally came out back in 2017 in a ridiculously small handmade
edition of only 111 copies so Cardinal Fuzz (Europe) and NAM (North America) have decided to give it the remaster/reissue treatment for it’s 5 year anniversary.

‘Two Treatise On Gnostic Thought’ is now back in print on BLOOD RED vinyl, packaged with redesigned artwork now featuring the Anunnaki logo by Christiophe Szpajdel on reverse board jackets, with a brand new 1/0 insert. Release date : 29th April 2022

For those who have not come across the band before imagine a cross between Motorhead’s Lemmy & Philthy Animal and Kraftwerk’s Ralf & Florian, together channelling the kozmik vision of Alice Coltrane through Sunn O)))’s amplifiers, and with influences varying from Klaus Schulze to Acid Mothers Temple, from New Age to Black Metal, Madame Blavatsky to Thich Nhat Hanh, and you’ll start to get the
idea of what Anunnaki is all about.

The group is Arlen Thompson – Drums and Synthesizer and Dave Read – four and six string basses and effects. They are from Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. Dave is known for his work with Moths & Locusts and Arlen for Wolf Parade.

MY VIEW – Two lengthy tracks, the first with blistering layered bass and synth sounds over a slow and steady drum beat, the second moving from a riot of percussive sounds and drones into ethereal drifting interstellar journeying, which has echoes of early Tangerine Dream cf. Alpha Centauri and Zeit, and then morphs into what can only be described as Hawkwind on industrial grade amphetamine with a portion of Magma. A highly entertaining listen and a welcome reissue.

To be featured on Aural Delights 489 on April 14th.
